1stシングル、Welcome to the DCCを聴いた時、戸惑ったよ。

“Live your perfect life”
“all the heaven, all the time”
“Be happy”

遂に彼らも頭ごなしにハッピーを謳う薄っぺらいアーティストになってしまったのかと。

いやまさかそんなはずがない、多分これは皮肉の曲なんだと思いながらも。

4作目にして国内盤が出ないし、更にひやひやしていたところにやっとでた日本のインタビュー記事。

おもしろいのは、楽曲面では前作からさらにダンサブルかつポップなものになりながら、持ち前の社会批評的なメッセージはコンセプトを立てたことで、より辛辣になったことだ。その意味では、ナッシング・バット・シーヴスは物言うロック・バンドとしての心意気はこれっぽっちも失っていないのだった。

そう、この4thアルバムDead Club Cityは、彼らの国に蔓延る（いや日本でもそうだ）特権階級を批判、皮肉った作品で、この曲なんかはまさにそれだ。

一体夢が叶えば幸せなのか。

富を得ればすべて解決するのか。

Conor自身はこの街に入りたい側の人間じゃないことが結論らしくて本当に良かった。

11月に謎に韓国公演が発表されたけど、日本はまだなんですか。

なんだこの爽やかな青空みたいな曲。

最初は戸惑ったけど、結局好きでたまらない曲になった。

I Need To Knowは、Joeが大ファンだというTom Petty & The Heartbreakers songの曲だそう。

大好きな大好きなアーティストのアルバムを4枚も手に入れてしまった。幸せ。

でもついに国内盤が出なくなったのがすごくショックだった。

なんか、自分の頭の中で「国内盤が出るアーティスト」というカテゴリーがあって、そこに属していた彼らには一定の安心感があった。今それがなくなって不安。

せっかくのコンセプトアルバムだというのに、和訳が存在しない作品になるなんて…

というわけで、ここに一解釈を残しておきます。

世界観を味わうのがハードル高くなってしまった。架空のキャラクターが出てくるとか確かソニーミュージックがプロモで書いてたのに。数回聴き流したくらいじゃわからない。

あと個人的に粉川しのさんのライナーノーツが読みたかった。

Record Store Dayというこじつけで、コナーのソロプロジェクトのEPを買った。

公式サイトにはもう無くて、もちろん日本で取り扱いがないから謎にオランダから。

EPなのにトータルで7000円もした。

でもNBTの1st EPなんかは今や5万くらいの値がついてるし、そうなった時に欲しくなっても絶望的だと思って、今のうちに買った。

それにいっぱい聴いたしね。例えるならそう、レコードが擦り切れるほどに。

あ、でも個人から購入したからコナーにお金行かないのか……

アルバム全部こんな感じだったらどうしよう。それでも全部最高だし好きだけど。
