”a tender kiss”の本当に優しい歌い方が好きすぎてたまらない。

この曲を初めて聴いたのは8年くらい前かなあ。女性vo.に自分の歌声を重ねて、何万回もJoshとデュエットした。

【和訳】End of an Era / Marianas Trench

4thアルバムAstoriaの最後の曲。

実は結構思い入れのある曲。

2015年に見に行ったライブで最後にこの曲が演奏された。そして帰国後に1曲目のAstoriaのMVが公開され、彼らはそこでこの4thアルバムの終わりと銘打った。

ああそうか、まさに一つの時代（Era）が終わったんだ、私のアメリカの思い出と共に。その時にそう実感した。

アストリアという存在に象徴された、一人の女性との別れをついに決断した歌。まあその方と波乱の末に結婚を遂げたのだけど。

毎度のことアルバムの締め方が最高だよなあ。まさに一つの物語。

1曲目でも使われていた"Never say die"という言葉は、実は彼らがこのアルバムジャケットでオマージュしている80'sの映画「The Goonies」に出てきた名台詞。

"If we shadows have offended"の件は調べたらシェイクスピアの詩ぽかった。

3rdアルバムにして彼は、1曲目から最後の曲まで全曲を繋げた完璧なコンセプトアルバムを作り上げた。Josh Ramsayはこのアルバムで彼の才能を知らしめたと思う。

終わり方が素敵すぎるし、最後のオルゴールのような音色がまた物語っぽさを演出していて、昔から大好き。

No Place Like Homeといいつつ、元の世界に戻るのではなく、この世界が我が家になり、ここでいつまでも幸せに暮らしましたという話なのが面白い。

ん？となるところはこのブックレットについていた小説を共に読めばストーリーが大体理解できると思う。
